Valencia CF have incorporated a new tool into the club’s Official App, allowing users to experiment with Augmented Reality. This development enables connection with fans and new experiences, continuing a commitment to new technology and innovation, at a time in which games are being held behind closed doors.
This new tool allows fans to explore new forms of more direct interaction, including virtual photos: Through Augmented Reality on the App, Valencianistas can include their existing heroes and new signings in their photos. Players such as Patrick Cutrone, Christian Oliva and Ferro, three players who have been unable to interact in person with fans since their arrival, can thus feature in pictures taken by supporters.
This initiative is the continuation of a project that Valencia CF started several months ago, through their signing with Imagine AR, a leading North American company in the field of Augmented Reality and now part of the VCF Innovation Hub. Thanks to this agreement, Valencia CF became the first LaLiga club to incorporate Augmented Reality for fan interaction and sponsorship activation.
Two content features are currently active: By scanning the image of Carlos Soler’s celebration after his winning goal against Villarreal, which can be found on Valencia CF’s official Instagram profile, the #JuntsAnemAMUNT campaign logo will be displayed on the screen of the fan’s mobile phone. Also, if “Location” mode is selected, an image of Christian Oliva appears so that the fans can pose with the player virtually.
The club remain committed to the latest technological developments and their possible application in the entertainment and fan engagement sectors. The implementation of Augmented Reality increases the channels and possibilities for generating content, offering new ideas and great experiences for Valencianists.
