“We’re excited to bring this incredible match experience to both our players and our fans. The NWSL and women’s soccer continue to grow each day, and we’re happy to be part of this historic opportunity to showcase our Club, our players and our league at one of the most iconic venues in American sports,” Orlando Pride Chairman Mark Wilf said. “It’s an honor for our Club and league to continue to lead the charge for women’s professional soccer and to elevate our players with this marquee matchup at Daytona Soccer Fest.”
“The entire organization is thrilled to be representing our city, our fans and the league in this once-in-a-lifetime match opportunity,” Orlando Pride President of Business Operations Jarrod Dillon said. “Thank you to the world class organizations who helped bring this event to life, including the NWSL, Racing Louisville, Torneos, Daytona International Speedway and CBS. We truly believe this will be one of the most exciting events for our fans and we can’t wait to celebrate Fourth of July weekend with you all at the track.”
In collaboration with World Center of Racing and Torneos, a leading company in the sports entertainment industry, the match will move to the newly-built soccer field for this one-time, first-of-its-kind event inside Daytona International Speedway on the grass field between pit road and the tri-oval.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the Daytona Soccer Fest and equally excited to bring an official NWSL match to Daytona Beach, Florida,” said NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman. “This truly one-of-a-kind event will be a special experience for both the players and our fans, and we couldn’t be more excited to have one of the most iconic and renowned sports venues in the world as a backdrop to showcase our game. Thank you to Daytona International Speedway, Torenos, and our clubs in Orlando and Louisville for their continued partnership as we make this event a reality.”
The game joins an exciting two-day lineup at DAYTONA Soccer Fest. Sunday, which will see the Pride’s match as the marquee event of the day, will also feature a Legends Game at 3 p.m., featuring World Cup champions and stars of the men’s game such as David Trezeguet, Juan Sebastian Verón, Javier Mascherano and Claudio Pizarro.
Following the Legends Game, three-time GRAMMY winner Chance the Rapper will join the weekend’s entertainment lineup with a 6 p.m. pre-game concert located at the Soccer Fest’s Music Performance Area next to the game field. The night will cap off with a fireworks display over Daytona International Speedway’s renowned infield at the conclusion of the Pride’s match.
The Sunday lineup builds off of Saturday’s calendar of events, which includes a match between reigning Colombian Champion Deportivo Cali and crosstown rival America de Cali, as well as a concert from Latin Grammy Award-winner Rauw Alejandro and latin artist Adassa, who recently played the role of Dolores in Disney’s Encanto.
